Meet Ron Romero
Ron Romero is the Founder, CEO, and Board Chairman of the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66, a cultural anchor in downtown Joliet that celebrates the state’s rich musical legacy while driving tourism, education, and economic revitalization. Under Ron’s leadership, the museum has grown into a dynamic destination that honors Illinois artists, fosters community pride, and attracts visitors from across the country and beyond.
The museum’s Board of Directors established the Illinois Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, housed within the museum, to recognize influential artists, producers, and industry figures from all musical genres who have shaped Illinois’ sound and cultural identity. Through this program, Ron and the board have helped build bridges across generations and genres, spotlighting the diversity and depth of the state’s musical contributions.
A seasoned entrepreneur, Ron has launched and led ventures in technology, internet services, and real estate investment. He continues to champion arts and education as an advisory board member for the Joliet Junior College Music Technology Program and remains an active performing musician. His civic engagement includes serving on the Joliet City Center Partnership and the Joliet Arts Council, where he advocates for creative placemaking and downtown development.
Ron maintains strong ties to the music industry through decades of performance, production, and artist collaboration. His relationships with musicians, producers, and industry professionals have helped shape the museum’s programming, recognition events, and statewide partnerships. He is also a member of the Illinois Association of Museums and the American Alliance of Museums, reflecting his commitment to professional standards and cultural stewardship.
With a unique blend of artistic passion, business acumen, and community vision, Ron continues to position Joliet as a vibrant, inclusive, and culturally rich destination.
