Founded in 1953 by Bob Koester in St. Louis, Missouri, originally as Delmar Records. In 1958, Koester moved to Chicago and rebranded the label as Delmark Records. It is the oldest continuously operating jazz and blues record label in the USA. Notable albums by Junior Wells & Buddy Guy (Hoodoo Man Blues), Magic Sam (West Side Soul), Otis Rush (Cold Day in Hell), and Roosevelt Sykes (Hard Drivin’ Blues), preserve and promote the gritty, soulful essence of Chicago’s music scene.

We’ve updated our admission pricing and visitor information starting October 1st, 2026.  Members still enjoy free admission, and the Gift Shop remains free to visit!

The Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66 will be closed to the public on Sunday, September 27 and Monday, September 28 as we host our annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Harris Theater.

This special event celebrates the artists, songwriters, and industry leaders who shaped Illinois music history. We look forward to welcoming visitors back when the museum reopens on Tuesday, September 29 during normal operating hours.
