Bob Sirott (1949-)
Chicago’s very own Bob Sirott has been a mainstay in Chicago television and radio since 1973. Bob was a top disc jockey at powerhouse Top 40 radio station WLS (The Big 89) from 1973 through 1979.
Bob Sirott was born in Chicago and raised in the Albany Park neighborhood on the city’s North Side. His radio/television career began in 1966 while a senior at Theodore Roosevelt High School when he became a page at NBC studio. He was first heard on-the-air in 1971 when he became a summer vacation fill-in disc jockey for WBBM-FM radio before moving to WLS in 1973 where he hosted his own time slot along with other disc jockeys Larry Lujack, Tommy Edwards, Steve King, and John Records Landecker.
Bob left WLS to host the CBS news magazine program West 57th. In 1989, he returned to Chicago’s airwaves at WMAQ—TV as a noon anchor and program host. In 1990, Sirott co-anchored First Thing in the Morning with Allison Rosati. From 1993-1997 Sirott co-hosted Fox Thing in the Morning with Marianne Murciano, to whom he is currently married.
From 2002 through 2005 Sirott hosted Chicago Tonight on Chicago PBS station WTTW. In 2007, Bob moved to WGN 720 AM to host The Noon Show.
As of this writing, Bob can be heard on weekdays from 6:00 AM to 10 AM on WGN Radio.
